Sharing Knowledge Doesn't Make You Poor

In any hobby, in order to progress and evolve you cannot be a scrooge with knowledge and information. You have to keep an open mind and treat everyone in the hobby as equals. Remind yourself that when you first started into that hobby, you were just as clueless as with any other beginner. What you know now, there are others out there who are eager to learn from you. If you are so evasive and vague about your source of information and your knowledge, then it defeats the purpose of socializing about your hobby.

In this age of social networks, if you want to isolate your knowledge and skills to a specific elite pool, just because in your opinion others does not deserve that information whom in your opinion is privy only to you, then it serves no purpose to add yourself to a social club, group, society, etc. Information works both ways, you receive and you give. If you just want to receive, sooner or later, people will take notice. Give and you shall receive more. Seek and you shall find more. If you are too tightlipped, there will always be others who are more generous with their share of information.
